Our Church History

In 1906, when Pevensey Bay was a little fishing village, Rev. J.S. Hockey from Bexhill felt called to serve God and the community in Pevensey Bay by opening a free evangelical church. He shared his calling with the Free Church Council in Eastbourne, approval was received, and the first meeting took place on the 24th October 1906.
Since that day, Pevensey Bay Baptist Church has had an active presence in the village.
In 1976, a 94 year old widow started a fund by donating £1 towards the construction of a new building. That new building opened on the 25th September 1982, where it still meets to worship our Lord and to serve our local community.
